Where on earth is Warminster?!
Warminster is situated in the county of Wiltshire, approximately 20 miles from Bath and Salisbury and close to the border with Somerset.
Please note that parking in Warminster and the surrounding villages is limited, so we therefore strongly advise you to use public transport to attend our event if at all possible.
Travelling to Imberbus by public transport
Warminster Rail Station is on the Cardiff-Newport-Bristol-Bath-Salisbury-Southampton-Portsmouth rail line which operates approximately every hour. Connections are also available at Westbury with trains from Somerset, Dorset and Devon as well as London. There is also a direct South Western Railway train at 0850 from London Waterloo, Woking, Basingstoke and Andover that runs through to Warminster. Their are several choices of return train journey, but please note that they will all require a change of train at Salisbury.
In 2025, a special coach ran to our event from Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff and Newport, whilst to assist those travelling from the London Area, National Express ran a direct coach from central London to Imber. Please check this page again during the Summer to see what coaches will be running to Imber for our next event.
If you would prefer to travel by local bus bus, the following bus services run to places served by Imberbus on Saturdays:
- First service D1 runs to Warminster every hour from Bath, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge and Westbury.
- Beeline service 24 runs to Warminster every 2 hours from Salisbury and Frome;
- Salisbury Reds service 2 and X2 runs approximately every hour from Salisbury and Devizes to Tilshead and West Lavington.

Travelling to Imberbus by car
Warminster is located at the junction of the A36 and A350 and is near to the infamous A303! Parking is available in the town centre but it fills up quickly when Imberbus is running and so if you need to drive to Warminster, we strongly recommend that you consider using one of the following out of town car parks instead:
- Chitterne Cricket Field car park is situated in the village of Chitterne, southeast of Warminster and easily reached from the A30 and A303. Last year this proved to be a popular alternative for those driving from Salisbury, London and other locations east of Warminster. The car park is accessed off St. Mary’s Close which is a turning off the B390 (click HERE to see a map of it) or type BA12 0LR into your Satnav. The charge for parking at Chitterne will be £5 per car (payable in cash) but please note that the first bus from Chitterne will not depart until 10.49am, although refreshments will be available for purchase in the village hall for those who arrive early! Please also be aware that if you park at Chitterne, you will only be able to purchase your Imberbus tickets by paying the conductor in cash on the bus (and there are no cash machines available at Chitterne).
- Imberbus “Early Bird” car park at Sack Hill (about 2 miles northeast of Warminster town centre at the top of the Imber Road – what3words reference = ///hoped.group.start). To find out how to get there from Warminster, please click HERE or type BA12 0DJ into your satnav and when you get to the Land Warfare Centre, stay on the main road for one mile as it goes past Warminster Camp and up a steep hill (the parking area will be at the top of the hill, about 300 metres past the tank on a plinth !). Our buses will call at the Sack Hill Car Park on their way to Imber but please note that only 80 cars can be accommodated at this location so it may be full by lunchtime. Also be aware that if you park at Sack Hill, you will only be able to pay in cash to purchase tickets and there will be no other facilities (such as toilets) available there.
- Warminster School car park (on Bath Road in Warminster, approx 20 mins walk from Warminster Station). This is an extra supervised car park on the edge of the town centre that is kindly being made available by Warminster School. The charge to park here will be £5 and toilets will be available. There are two walking routes to the Station from Warminster School which take you through the older parts of the town – one along the High Street and the Market Place and a slightly shorter one past the Hospital and along the Avenue.
If you prefer to park in Warminster Town Centre, the town’s Central Car Park is located off station road, round the corner from the rail station – see map below (for those of you using SatNav, the postcode for Warminster’s Central Car Park is BA12 9BX). Other town centre public car parks are also available (including a small one at the station itself which fills up very quickly), but please note that normal weekday charges apply at all the town’s car parks on Saturdays. If you are intending to use the Station car park, please watch out for buses manoeuvring around the Station forecourt and be prepared to wait whilst we reverse them into position.

A small amount of roadside parking is also available in West Lavington and Market Lavington, but please ensure that you leave plenty of space for the Imberbuses to get past. Please note that there is no parking available at Gore Cross Interchange as this is part of the Salisbury Plain Military Training Area.
